Since making her debut for Tasmania in the 2020-21 season, Heather Graham has made her presence felt throughout the Tasmanian Tigers.
Arriving from Western Australia as a highly touted all-rounder and someone who had already played for Australia, to have a player of her quality was exciting for Tasmanian cricket.
In her first year at the Tigers, arriving the year before our first-ever WNCL Title, Graham dominated with the bat establishing the strong form that had her playing for Australia two years prior.
Her success in domestic cricket led her to consistently be around the Australian set-up over the next three seasons, and despite playing a key role for the Tasmanian Tigers she would miss the squad's first two WNCL titles due to her commitments with the national team.
In 2023-24, as Tasmania was going for their three-peat, Graham would have the opportunity to influence a final in the Tigers' favour.
Taking 3-39 with the ball from her 10 overs in their bowling innings, before a match-winning partnership with Nicola Carey where Graham scored 63 runs, Tasmania would lift the Ruth Preddy Trophy for their third year running, and ‘H’ would be a significant reason behind it.
From her 34 games for Tasmania across a five-season period, Graham will finish her Tasmanian career with 1032 runs with three 100s and six 50s, sitting fourth overall in total runs scored for Tasmania in the WNCL.
With the ball, she finished just shy of 50 wickets for the state, taking 48 wickets with best figures of 5/44, always given the toughest overs by her skipper Elyse Villani and Sasha Moloney in her first year.
While her achievements on the field are impressive, the impact she has made within the organisation during her time in Tasmania will create a lasting memory in the history of Tasmanian cricket.
An incredible teammate, whose spirit was infectious and would drive the members of the teams she played in to be better, there were not many who have represented Tasmania who had played with the passion of Heather Graham.
All the best for your next move ‘HG’, thank you for your commitment to Tasmanian cricket and growing the game in our state.
