Rodwell and Fazackerley Medalists and Award Winners

As the 2024-25 Cricket Tasmania Premier League season rapidly reaches its crescendo, the Rodwell and Fazackerley Medals held at Ninja Stadium tonight to acknowledge the great season that has taken place across all Premier Cricket grades in Tasmania.

In news that would surprise no one who had followed the CTPL Men’s 1st Grade competition this season, University Captain and All-Rounder Param Uppal took out the Emerson Rodwell Medal.

Dominating the competition with the bat and ball, Uppal finished the season with 21 votes, and despite his dominance, he was only one vote ahead of Clarence District CC bowler Sam Rainbird (20 votes), and two votes further back with Greater Northern Raiders Captain, Alastair Taylor (18 votes) rounding out the top three.

Charlie Wakim (Lindisfarne CC) led the batting aggregates with 461 runs @ 76.83, while Josh Hartill (Glenorchy CC) led all run scorers with 812 runs across the season.

Cameron Walter (Kingborough District CC) won the bowling averages with 48 wickets @ an incredible 13.75, while the bowling aggregate was won narrowly by Clarence veteran Sam Rainbird (50 wickets).

In the Women’s 1st Grade competition, the Kim Fazackerley Medal was awarded to Greater Northern Raiders star Emma Manix-Geeves, who also won the batting average and aggregate with 812 runs @ 101.5, helping Greater Northern Raiders to two finals in the T20 and One Day Finals.

Young Greater Northern Raiders talent Chloe Casey won the bowling averages (23 wickets @ 8.3), and the aggregate was won by 2023-24 Fazackerley Medalist Ella Marsh (25 wickets).

Kingborough District Cricket Club won the Club Championship with all of their teams playing in their respective finals this weekend, while Clarence District Cricket Club won the Spirit of Cricket Award.

There were also two individuals inducted into the Cricket Tasmania Premier League Hall of Fame, with Trevor Gordon and Wade Stewart recognised for their commitment and achievements to cricket in our state.

Premier Cricket Manager, Sean Stevenson is happy to see all award winners have an opportunity to be acknowledged for their strong season.

“It has been a very even season, and we have already witnessed some fantastic finals in both the men’s and women’s competitions.”

“National and international representatives regularly ply their trade at club level in the Cricket Tasmania Premier League, which assures a high standard of competition.”

“Tonight we celebrate the great performances by clubs and individuals at all levels of the CTPL, with the outcome of counts for the Kim Fazackerley and Emerson Rodwell Medals always holding enormous interest,” said Stevenson.
