Cricket Tasmania/Lutruwita will be represented at Cricket Australia’s 2025 National Indigenous Cricket Carnival, which will be held in Mackay from 2 to 7 April 2025.
The team will be coached by Cricket Tasmania Pathways coach Harry Allanby and will be supported by Guy Grey and Scott Pearce who will provide cultural and coaching support.
Tasmania’s team features several Cricket Tasmania Premier League 1st Grade representatives, and Cricket Tasmania pathways players.
This year’s squad also features four new players who are yet to represent Tasmania at the NICC and will be looking to gain more experience as part of the carnival.
Last year’s NICC, saw Tasmania win three out of their five games in the pool stage before losing in the semi-final to a strong New South Wales squad.
They will be looking to improve on this strong performance on the field, whilst sharing knowledge and learnings from other indigenous people around the country.
Cricket Tasmania is also proud to have Aurora Energy as their partner of the Tasmanian NICC team and have contributed financially to supporting their travel expenses and participation in the Championship.
Cricket Tasmania’s General Manager – Community Cricket, Alex King is pleased to announce the squad for the upcoming NICC.
“This program continues to develop each year, and with record numbers attending our trials across the state, this highlights the depth of Indigenous players playing cricket in our community.
“This carnival is a great way for players to represent their culture and connect through cricket and with several players involved in our youth pathway programs, and the tournament will provide another great opportunity for our players to showcase their skills on the National stage,” said King.
