Tasmanian U17 National Championship Squad Announcement

Ahead of their National Championship which starts on Thursday, Tasmania can announce their male Under 17 squad!

This year's tournament is being held in Launceston, and will give players in this tournament an opportunity to play on the University of Tasmania Stadium, along with some of Launceston's premier cricket venues.

The squad has a strong blend of Southern, Northern and North West cricketers, with some players within the team having already made their 1st Grade debut in the Premier League for their respective clubs.

Tasmania's team will be coached by Pathways Coach, Marc Simmons, and he will be assisted by Harry Allanby and Alistair Taylor.

Simmons is excited by the prospect of Tasmania hosting a National Championship in their home state.

“Our entire party, players and support staff who are representing the organisation at this National Championships are extremely excited by the opportunity, and the players have all had a great lead up to the tourmament with a very large percentage of the squad honing in on their skill sets since the late Winter months.

"We’ve had some of the playing group also attend U19s and Australian Country Champs, and we look forward to those players sharing their experiences and leadership with the remainder of the squad.

"The Cricket Australia U17’s National Championships provide a great gameplay platform for our players, an opportunity I am sure they are grateful for to be able to put their skills on display, and hopefully their name in lights for higher honours.” said Simmons.

The team will captained jointly by Clarence pair Hayden Clark-Sullivan and Riley Whitelaw, who will share the skippering duties throughout the tournament each having opportunities to lead their state.
