U17 Squad head to Ballarat for National Champs

Cricket Tasmania is excited to announce the U17 state team who will be representing Tasmania at the upcoming U17 National Championship in Ballarat this week.

The U17 National Championship provides Tasmanian cricketers with an opportunity to test themselves at the highest level of pathways cricket in Australia.

The 14 talented young cricketers have worked hard throughout the selection process which included tough training sessions and some last minute changes to the squad.

They will be facing challenging Summer conditions in Ballarat, but we have no doubt the squad will represent Cricket Tasmania with pride.

The team will look to use the experience of their captain Thomas Dwyer, alongside all-rounder Jack Miller, who were both selected in the most recent U19 National Championship earlier this season.

Cricket Tasmania’s Pathways Head Coach, Andrew Gale, has supported the team during their preparation for the tournament and is looking forward to seeing how our boys shape up.

“Going to the U17s Carnival will be a great experience for our young players to showcase their skills against the best players in the country.” Said Gale,

“Our new pathway structure has meant that these young athletes have had fantastic preparation going into the competition. I am excited to see them perform over the next few weeks and watch some of these players to go on to represent the senior Tigers squad.”

The squad consists of:

Jack Allen (North Hobart CC)
Luca Di Venuto (Clarence CC)
Thomas Dwyer (c) (Mowbray CC)
Jonah Evans (Sheffield CC)
Blake Garrett (Clarence CC)
Patrick Harnwell (Kingborough CC)
