Tasmania have named a Female 2nd XI squad for the first time in a number of years, in a landmark two-match series against South Australia this week. There will be two 50-over games played at Karen Rolton Oval on Tuesday and Thursday next week.
The squad consists of members from the Cricket Tasmania squad, Female Pathways program and Cricket Tasmania Premier League standouts who have been performing well locally.
The team includes:
Chloe Abel
Mel Armstrong
Taylor Brooks
Ava Curtis
Erin Fazackerley
Sterre Kalis
Shelby Leonard
Emma Manix-Geeves
Ella Marsh
Meg Radford
Tabatha Saville (Tuesday's game only)
Clare Scott
Kate Sheriff
Hayley Silver-Holmes (Tuesday's game only)
The squad will be led by Head Coach of the Female Pathway Program, Natalie Schilov, who is looking forward to seeing Female Second XI back on the Cricket Tasmania calendar.
"We are very excited to see the return of Second XI for Tasmanian Female cricketers. We’ve got a huge focus on playing more cricket, and these opportunities are vital for players on the fringe of our elite teams to continue to develop their game," said Schliov.
"It also offers a stretch opportunity for our pathway athletes striving to earn a contract and reward for performances in club cricket."
Schilov will be joined by newly appointed Assistant Coach (Batting) for the Tasmanian Tigers Female program Graeme Beghin, and Strength and Conditioning Coach, Tom Coates.
