Cricket Tasmania confirm proposed sale of RHGC land following member vote

Following a Special General Meeting of the Royal Hobart Golf Club last night, Cricket Tasmania is delighted to confirm that the proposed sale of a portion of the club’s landholding at Seven Mile Beach to Cricket Tasmania has been endorsed by members.

The land, which is intended to become the future home of Cricket Tasmania, will support the development of a new state-of-the-art sporting, administration, game development and education facility that will underpin the long-term growth of Tasmanian cricket.

To proceed with selling the land on the terms set out in a Heads of Agreement between the club and Cricket Tasmania, 75 per cent majority in favour of the proposal was necessary for approval.

Cricket Tasmania CEO Dominic Baker said he was pleased by the result of this member vote.

“We are thrilled to see that the Royal Hobart Golf Club members have agreed to the sale of this land,” he said.

“The sale provides us with a fantastic opportunity to create something truly world-class at the site at Seven Mile Beach and become one of the leading High Performance centres in the country.

“There are several other conditions to complete the land purchase and progress a development including detailed planning and design, the approval of a subdivision of the land and the availability of funding.

“When we are in a position to progress those matters further, we will work with the Club, local community and stakeholders to discuss the needs and considerations for this site, and how Cricket Tasmania can help contribute to this important and exciting development.”

Cricket Tasmania will provide further updates on the progress of the Tasmanian Cricket Centre for Excellence and Community facility when more information becomes available.
