The Hobart Hurricanes, alongside the Ponting Foundation, are proud to announce that the Hobart Hurricanes match against the Sydney Thunder on 10 January will be the inaugural Ponting Foundation game.
Following up from the great work that the Ponting Foundation do for children within Tasmania, the Hurricanes will use their fourth home match of the Summer to help promote the Foundation in what will become a yearly tradition within the BBL Calendar.
Working alongside the Hurricanes Head of Strategy, Ricky Ponting, Rianna Ponting, and his manager, James Henderson, the Ponting Foundation is dedicated to doing everything possible to help support young Tasmanians and their family’s beat cancer.
The Hobart Hurricanes will be using their match against the Thunder to help raise awareness and funding for some of Australia’s most vulnerable and at-risk kids.
They are donating a percentage of ticket sales, along with a portion of the Food and Beverage revenue from this match to the Ponting Foundation and hope it will become an annual marquee match at Ninja Stadium for years to come.
At this match there will also be a corporate function with a live auction for items which will help raise further funds for such a worthy cause.
For fans that are attending there will be opportunities for Tasmanians to give back, with traditional cash donations, scannable QR codes, and electronic squares for online payments allowing everyone to contribute.
As part of this partnership, the Hurricanes major partner, RedZed have also pledged $500 for every six that is hit by either team in the match to the Ponting Foundation.
More partners will be announced as we get closer to the match on the 10 January.
