Cricket Tasmania is delighted to have Alistair Addison join their High Performance staff as the Head of Coach Development.
Addison joined Cricket Tasmania after having an extensive career in coaching and coach development, where he has worked in universities in the United Kingdom, along with five different international hockey programs in the UK and Australia.
He is excited to be undertaking this newly developed position at Cricket Tasmania.
“I am excited to return to my home state, take the learnings and experiences I have had overseas, and help build coaching systems that will be unique to the needs of Tasmania to help better support our aspiring coaches.
“The impact of working with coaches and developers from other sports has had a huge influence on my career, and I think Cricket Tasmania has been bold and innovative in looking to bring in experience from other sports.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to impact the future of coaching in the state,” explained Addison.
As part of his position at Cricket Tasmania, Addison will be responsible for developing Cricket Tasmania’s coaches in the elite and pathways coaching spaces, as well as providing ongoing support to all coaches within the Cricket Tasmania Premier League.
The High Performance team at Cricket Tasmania has undergone a restructuring in the past 12 months, and several positions were developed to help better support Tasmanian cricket, and ultimately help achieve Cricket Tasmania’s strategic priorities.
Addison will implement individualised development plans for all High Performance coaches at Cricket Tasmania and CTPL coaches.
This knowledge is being invested in Tasmanian coaches as part of an intentional approach to individualised growth to ensure we elevate the standard of cricket across the state.
Head of Talent and Development, Greg Hechter, discussed how integral Addison’s role will be for developing talent in Tasmania.
“Cricket Tasmania is excited that Alistair has decided to return home to invest his considerable experience in coaching and coach development into our state.
“Creating a high-performance pathway for high potential players, coaches, and match officials remains at the forefront of our strategy as we look to produce the next generation of Australian representatives through our systems.
“Alistair has been in the role for several weeks now, and he has been well received by all in the HP department and has made an immediate impact and positive contribution towards how we operate,” said Hechter.
